Safira completed Teacher Training with A’isha Azar, has received Level II Certification through Sahra Saeeda’s Journey Through Egypt Certification Program,  and also earned a Middle Eastern Dance Teaching Certificate from Tamalyn Dallal.

Owner, Artistic Director, and Instructor at Bellydance Kalamazoo.  Sabrina has led a life filled with dance. She began studying ballet and other forms of western dance at age 3, and was an award winning choreographer at age 13.

Sabrina earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from Western Michigan University.  Her knowledge of kinesiology and her ability to assimilate this knowledge into her classes makes her style of teaching intense and unique. She strives to share her love for dance with everyone she meets.

While currently based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Sabrina has studied and performed nationally and internationally for several years, including lengthy stays in New Orleans, Thailand, and Egypt.  She loves to share all of her experiences and the knowledge she has gained with her students and her audiences.  For more about Sabrina, see


Bellydance Kalamazoo is an inclusive, community based middle eastern dance school (also known as belly dance) in south west Michigan whose focus is to promote fun, fitness, cultural awareness, and creativity for people of all ages, genders, shapes and sizes who are interested in Middle Eastern dance, music, and culture.  By offering classes, workshops, lectures and performances to the greater Kalamazoo, Michigan community, we hope to create an atmosphere of tolerance, cultural understanding, and appreciation. ©Bellydance Kalamazoo


Founder of Bellydance Kalamazoo, Safira has a background in vocal performance and musical theatre.  She began her public performance career as a child, and has been onstage performing for over 30 years.  She has been teaching this dance form since 2005.

Safira is known for her generous teaching style.  Coupled with her understanding of body mechanics, movement, and body alignment, her goal is to create a classroom experience that is  personal and unique.  Safira's warm personality lends itself to sharing the joy of this celebratory dance.  Body awareness and acceptance in her students is a driving force behind her desire to teach.

Teaching is Safira's pleasure and passion; it shines through in her accessible, patient manner and ability to break down movement clearly and precisely.
